Golden Hour started as a dream between two friends on a walk. The desire for something more and a love of new food, friendship, and whimsy. The Golden Hour Supper Society hosts events with good food and drink, interesting settings, and sparkling connections in mind.

Rachel Meyer
FOUNDER
Rachel Meyer is an Account Executive at Lemonly in Sioux Falls but spends much of her free time cooking and trying new foods! She is always on the lookout for dumplings search and a hit of umami. Having savored much of the food offerings in the area, Rachel wanted to create a new kind of dining experience in eastern South Dakota. She moved to Brookings in 2019 with her partner and daughter, Paul and Thea. Thea’s favorite food is cheese. All the cheese.

Kirsten Gjesdal
FOUNDER
Kirsten Gjesdal is the owner of The Carrot Seed and Honeycomb Gifts, two shopping destinations in Downtown Brookings. She is passionate about local food, growing community involvement, and supporting innovative ideas. Beyond volunteering for a variety of community organizations, she loves traveling, gardening, and eating really good meals with her husband Mike and daughter Johanna. Favorite food? Definitely ice cream, closely followed by refried beans.
