Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the society?

Anyone who attends one of our events is a member of the society. Society dinners are special. They have a specific energy that is best experienced for yourself. Join our mailing list to get early access to tickets.

Do I purchase a membership or a one time ticket?

For now, we are selling one-time tickets for each event individually but may offer a membership in the future.

How is each event planned?

Each event is meticulously planned and curated by the founders, the guest chef, and venue coordinators. The menu theme provides a road map for the event which guides our decision making for the location, decorations, place settings, and event flow.

What goes into the cost of each event?

Each dining event is different and requires a different budget. Taking into consideration the aforementioned roadmap, costs include:

  • The time, expertise, and travel expenses of our guest chef and their team

  • The best ingredients we are able to offer

  • Rentals of the venue, decor, place settings, and more

  • The multitude of surprises and special touches that make our society dinners an interesting and fun experience

We hope that the environment we create focused on good food and good conversation is a priceless value to our society members.

Will the events be in the same location every time?

No. The location is selected as a space best suited for the particular menu and theme we are focused on. Most will be in the Brookings area but the sky's the limit for future events.

Can I request to sit by my friends?

Golden Hour Supper Society is an intentional space to abandon our midwestern shyness and embrace the possibility of new friendships and connection. While we want our guests to feel comfortable and convivial, we also want to encourage conversation with those at your table. This may or may not include those you knew before the event. Seating arrangements will be decided upon by the hosts/founders to encourage these new connection moments while keeping you just comfortable enough to not feel overwhelmed with new faces.

What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Please let us know on your registration form if you or anyone else in your party has a food allergy or dietary restriction. Our chefs are comfortable making these substitutions but the integrity of the original menu may be slightly compromised to make these changes. We will always do our best to accommodate you. That said, these menus are prix fixe so there will not be an opportunity to ask for other substitutions. Enjoy the lack of decision making and let our chefs curate for you!

What if I don’t drink alcohol?

That is a-okay with us. We will always provide non-alcoholic mixology and will want to offer you unique beverages that pair well with your meal. You don’t need to drink to have new and exciting beverage experiences at Golden Hour.

What do I wear?

Our society events will likely have a mixture of indoor and outdoor elements so plan for layers and warm clothing/shoes. Dress as if you were going to a friend’s dinner party but hanging around outside a bit beforehand. If there is a dress code, please do your best to participate fully. It’s fun!

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Bring your appetite and an openness to new foods, drinks, and people. Bring layers and warm clothing and shoes as most of our events have an indoor and outdoor component.

Can I bring my kids? Or fur babies?

No, thank you. Our events are for humans ages 21 and up. A dinner for dogs does sound very adorable though.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

If you are unable to attend and would like a refund or to transfer your ticket to another person, please email us at info@goldenhoursuppersociety.com. Transfers and refunds must be requested 10 days before the event. Due to the planning required for these events, no refunds will be given after 10 days leading up to the event. Golden Hour has the right to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, in which case Golden Hour will issue a full refund to the original form of payment.

What if there is a snow storm or other unforeseen circumstance?

When Golden Hour must cancel an event due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control (power outages, facility issues, etc), we will attempt to notify you by email with as much notice as possible. If this occurs, Golden Hour will issue a full refund to the original form of payment. However, if we do not affirmatively cancel and you are unable to attend, our standard cancellation policy applies - see above.
